About the Doctor

Dr. W. Scott Butsch, Director of Obesity Medicine at the Institute of Bariatrics and Metabolic at the Cleveland Clinic, previously taught medicine at Harvard Medical School (HMS). He then worked at the Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) Centers of Gravity. In 2007, he completed a clinical nutrition fellowship at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, thus becoming the first doctor in the United States to complete a fellowship for a subspecialty in obesity medicine established at HMS/MGH. In addition, Dr. W. Scott Butsch is a member of the Obesity Society and a diplomat to the American Board of Obesity Medicine.

Dr. W. Scott Butsch's professional interests include pharmacological management of obesity and the use of combination pharmacological therapies in bariatric surgery patients and special populations with severe obesity. In addition, he has been the author of many departments and articles at national and international level on many topics related to obesity and clinical nutrition and has been a speaker in many conferences on the same subject.
Dr. W. Scott Butsch, one of the leaders in both obesity and nutrition education in the United States, has created many training programs.
